Walk on the Beach

We love to walk our beach when the sun is out. You see so many interesting things.

Chantal hunts for shells and pieces of driftwood, for her art projects. I enjoy the dead things, which sounds weird. But you should see what washes up on our shores. Bizarre-looking fish. Turtles. Ecuadorian anteaters. Bones of all kinds.

And then there’s the plastic pollution.

Most of it is fishing tackle, as you would expect. But a good portion of it is consumer waste. So spare me your little culture war about bans on plastic straws. We get to pick them up off the sand every morning.

If you like, I can mail them back to you.
